Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about air filters, our services, and how we can help improve your indoor air quality.

Filters & Products

How often should I replace my air filter?

For residential systems, we generally recommend replacing standard filters every 3 months. HEPA filters last 12–24 months depending on usage. Commercial filters are typically serviced every 6 months. However, this varies based on your environment — homes with pets, allergies, or near construction may need more frequent changes. We can help you set up a replacement schedule.

Do you offer custom-sized filters?

Yes! Custom sizing is one of our specialities. If your system uses a non-standard filter size, we can manufacture filters to your exact dimensions. Simply provide us with the measurements (length × width × depth) and we'll produce a filter that fits perfectly. Contact us with your dimensions for a quote.

What's the difference between G3, G4, F5, and HEPA filters?

These ratings indicate filtration efficiency. G3 (washable) captures large particles like dust and lint. G4 captures finer dust and pollen. F5 provides medium-efficiency filtration for smaller particles. HEPA H13/H14 filters capture 99.97–99.995% of particles down to 0.3 microns, including bacteria and viruses. The right choice depends on your application — our team can recommend the best option.

Are your filters Australian made?

Yes — we manufacture our filters right here in our Hillcrest, Queensland facility. We're proud to be 100% Australian owned and operated since 2009. All our products are made to meet or exceed Australian Standards (AS1324.1, AS4260, AS1668.2).

Can I wash and reuse my air filter?

Only filters specifically rated as "washable" (G3 grade) can be washed and reused. Standard pleated filters and HEPA filters should never be washed as it damages the filter media and reduces efficiency. We offer both washable and disposable options — ask us which is right for your system.

Technical

How do I know what size filter I need?

The easiest way is to check your existing filter — the size is usually printed on the frame (e.g., 16×20×1"). If there's no marking, measure the length, width, and depth of the filter slot. You can also check your HVAC system's manual. If you're unsure, send us a photo and we'll help identify the right size.

What's the difference between a panel filter and a bag filter?

Panel filters are flat, rigid filters ideal for standard residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Bag (pocket) filters have multiple pockets of filter media, giving them a much larger surface area and higher dust-holding capacity — making them ideal for heavy-duty commercial and industrial applications where longer service life is needed.

Will a higher-rated filter restrict airflow in my system?

Higher efficiency filters do create more resistance (pressure drop), which can affect airflow if your system isn't designed for them. That's why filter selection matters — we'll recommend the right balance of filtration efficiency and airflow for your specific system to ensure optimal performance without straining your HVAC.
