Your Seasonal Filter Maintenance Checklist
A Little Routine Goes a Long Way
Filters work hardest at different times of year. A simple seasonal routine keeps your air clean and your system efficient without much effort.
Spring
- •Pollen peaks — check filters monthly and replace loaded ones
- •Consider stepping up to a higher grade for allergy sufferers
Summer
- •Heavy air conditioning use and bushfire smoke risk
- •Check filters more often; keep higher-grade or smoke-rated spares on hand
- •Clean split system filters every few weeks
Autumn
- •A good time for a thorough filter change heading into cooler months
- •Inspect seals and frames for gaps that cause air bypass
Winter
- •Systems run for heating — keep filters clean for efficiency
- •Watch for condensation and damp; replace any filter that gets wet
Year-Round Basics
- •Check standard filters every one to three months
- •Never refit a damp washable filter
- •Keep spares on hand so changes never get delayed
